Attractions

Special attractions include:

  • Textile displays - handmade items such as: needle point, photography, woodworking, works of art, handmade jewelry, clothing, bedding and toys. 
  • We have a full scale model of a Pioneer Town with a working general store. Stop by and check out the fresh vegetables, nickel candy, hand crafted household decorations, and much more.
  • On Sunday join the Tangipahoa Parish Fair as we give praise to God during morning services in our church/school house.
  • Indian/Native American Village in a work in action. We are attempting to erect a full scale Village depicting how the different Tribes in Louisiana lived and worked. Items on display will show the tools and toys made from the earth and show how people lived, worked and played. Check out the unique handmade craft items while getting lost in a rich cultural experience.
  • 4H - tour the hard work of local students was you make your way through the 4H exhibits. See the talents and interest of the upcoming generation as we encourage them to explore their talents. Join 4H on Saturday during Fair for their annual Livestock Show. Entry into the livestock show is open to everyone, not just 4H students. Come show your support for the youth in our parish and encourage them to develop their talents.
  • Flowers and Plants – Do you have a green thumb? Bring your plants, flowers and cuttings to enter for that blue ribbon and bragging rights for the year.
  • Schools – The Tangipahoa Parish Fair attempts to give every child a way to be part of the Fair.
    • Shake Rattle and Roll – Wednesday of Fair local Jr High and High Schools compete in a battle of cheer, dance and flag.
    • Spelling Bee – children in grades 3rd, 5th and 8th face-off in a competition of knowledge and skills on Friday at 1:00 pm. Come cheer your students on.
    • Battle of the Bands – School marching bands show off their musical talents as they compete against other local schools to see who is the best of the best. The Battle follows the parade on Friday.
    • Children's Day – On Wednesday mornings children in pre-K through 2nd grade are welcome to join the Fair for Children's Day. There are live displays for educational purposes that range from story time with the Tangipahoa Library out of Amite, a smoke house for fire safety from Amite Fire Department, displays about wildlife from the Louisiana State Parks, exhibits in Pioneer Town and Indian/Native American Village. Carnival rides DO NOT operate during this time.
    • Service Hours – The Tangipahoa Parish Fair is a non-profit organization and will assist any students in need of service hours. Contact us to discuss how we can work with you or your group to assist in your advancements.
  • Council on Aging Pageant – on Thursday at Noon a King and Queen are selected to represent the seniors of the area as the Tangipahoa Parish Council on Aging joins the Tangipahoa Parish Fair in honoring the local seniors for their contributions to our parish, their communities, families and the Fair.
  • Live Music – there is no entry fee to come enjoy live music as the children enjoy the rides and games. Relax and dance the night away as the music sweeps over you.
  • Crescent City Amusements will be providing the rides and games. Check for specials on weekend passes and Pay One Price ride times.
